My Approach

"It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried" Carl Rogers.

"We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” Martin Luther King Jr

You'll notice the lotus flower on this page. In Buddhism, it's a symbol of the beauty that can grow up from the sunken depths of muddy roots, through the darkest waters only to bloom when it reaches the clarity of the surface. Sometimes we may get 'stuck in the mud' so to speak, but I truly believe and have witnessed the most amazing transformations blossom from the most trying situations.

As in most situations, one size does not fit all. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a partnership. You're the expert on your life. Therefore, we’ll work together to establish what will be beneficial for you which will depend on what you want to achieve through this process. I tend to draw on techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivation Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Person-Centred Therapy.
